May Windows 8 rot in Hell!

Some people play games on Macs, but the majority do not. Of course, cost is another issue. I paid about $500 for a gaming computer that's over two years old, and it plays all of the latest games at full resolution today. I wouldn't have been able to get a comparable Mac anywhere that price.

By all evidence, 7 is very good. Unfortunately, Microsoft has locked in contracts with the computer makers that force the consumer to either accept 8 or void their guarantees and install 7 on their own. I'm tempted but since the re-install it seems to be working . . . so far!

Not quite the case, Oldsarge.

MS, in its inimitable beneficence and majesterial style, is condescending to "allow" people with Win 8 Pro installed to "downgrade" to Windows 7.

Because demand for switching from Win 8 back to Win 7 is so high, a few manufacturers are even providing a Win 7 install image on their computers intended for the corporate market.

Of course, as a member of the plebian masses, you may wish to take matters into your own hands and just do an install from a set of Win 7 disks from scratch.

Recently, HP announced it will not void the hardware warranties of people who install Win 7 on their computers (they probably had to, given the flood of people who are dumping Windows 8 from their machines)

Aha! Fortunately, I am the least computer savvy member in a whole family of geeks and geek tenders. My son and DIL have sworn a mighty oath that if I get fed up with this idiocy called Win 8, they can install 7 for me. And now that we know HP will honor its guarantee . . . heh, heh, heh!

Thanx, man.
