Miami Spearin' Contest

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yep seems I'm on Cuban time again! Been tying up some critical loose ends in mi vida, but all seems like its tight so back to the tourney!

I've got most of the legal, yes legal kinks inline and the actual flyer is about ready to be unvailed (special thxs to Gman...& bienvenito to Miami...shoot me a PM)...The rule/regs will be posted this week.

OK now for the dates, I would like to see it come down in June, but it seems like it will be closer to July (actually better weather in July, unless this summer is like last summer :naughty)...why July? Sponsors. I plan to dedicate quite some time networking with local (and some outside) potential sponsors, this of course takes time, since some of these guys are not just "dive shops" but also "tackle shops" I want to make sure this show doesn't overlap any big fish tournys. Which reminds me...I'm gonna need some volunteers to visit the shops to drop off and post the tourny flyers...if any of you guys are able hit me up. Remember this will hopefully be a tourney setting the pace for a repeat show every year...best to do it right from the get go so as to have everyone come back next year, with their friends!:friday
Again a 1000 pardons for the delay...and btw if you girls are itching for a pre-shootout amongst us we can always drill one of them too:girlie

22. Only two fish per category, per contestant can be weighed-in

FORMAT
This is an aggregate style fish tournament. As such, 2 types of points will be awarded for each fish turned in. One point or partial point is given for each pound or partial pound of the fish’s weight. And points will be awarded for each species of fish turned in. For example, 3.4 pound mutton would be worth 3.4 “pound” points, and 9 “fish” point for a total of 12.4 points.

Fish must be gutted. Do not weigh fish that you have shot with a powerhead.

After you have weighed your fish, you will be presented with a slip that you must sign, acknowledging that you accept the weights and points as stated on the slip. If you dispute your weight and/or total points, it must be done while at the weigh-in table. If you dispute someone else’s fish, you must do so at the time they are weigh-in.

23. Contestants are responsible for knowledge of any and all rules, and regulations both those expressed in the MoneyBag ShootOut and those set fourth by the state of Florida Fish and Game Commission and their accompanying departments. ALL Florida F&G regulations supercede any and all stipulated by The MoneyBag Shootout, if doubt exists regarding size or bag limits adhere to the rules and regulations set fourth by the State of Florida F&G. (see http://myfwc.com/marine/regulation.htm) Any and all amendments to rules, will be discussed at the Captains' Meeting to be held on -----------at 0:00 p.m. at ----------------.

24. Each contestant entering this Tournament has given implied and expressed rights and consent for SettingSteel SpearGear to use his or her name, and or likeness, to promote the future efforts of SettingSteel SpearGear, future efforts of the Miami MoneyBag ShootOut, and other related spear fishing events or promotions.

25. Disqualification – A Tournament participant can be disqualified from all aspects of this Tournament and from any future Miami MoneyBag ShootOut Tournaments for any of the following:

A. Infraction of Tournament Rules
B. Rough play, unsafe or careless behavior.
C. Unsportsmanlike conduct.

26. Decisions, interpretations and disputes of all these rules will be discussed and decided upon by the Tournament Director(s). The Tournament Director(s) decisions are final.

27. There is no reimbursement of Tournament Fees once they have been paid

28. All fish weighed in during the tournament become the property of the organizers.

29. Fish not weighed in for the tournament provided they are within the Florida fish per person daily limit may be used by the diver to dispose of as he/she wishes, or contributed to the Fish Fry.

30. In view of the sensitive nature of spearfishing in the public eye, the event organizer asks all competitors' understanding and cooperation by promoting a correct and conservative attitude. With this in mind, we would ask competitors who will be spearfishing in the area before or after the event to apply sound principles in their reasoning, so as to set an example for generations to come.

31.Have fun, dive safe, respect our environment (Think Twice, shoot once…NO FISH IS WORTH YOUR LIFE…WORD).

WHEEEEW so their we have it! This is the final rough draft, open to opinions, critique, and proofreading.

We have the date and location pending, as well as sponsorship for the event.

Anyone interested in helping with the promotion of this noble cause is appreciated, also any volunteers to help with the organization, and the "behind the scenes" run is also appreciated. Like who? Wifeys, Husbands, GF's, BF's, In-Laws, Dads, Mothers, Grandparents, Brothers, Sisters, Daughters, Sons, Friends, Suegras...you get it

Things got kinda busy again so the show slowed a bit, that coupled with the current economy has got me thinking if the time is right for this tourney or plan it for next year...as it is, a couple of tourneys have been cancelled do to an unanticipated low competitor participation...what I don't want to do is get promoters psyched up and then turn around and cancel the show, definitely not a good way to start...catchin' my drift?

... I see what your getting at, there is no doubt that the economy overall is in a slump and won't be picking up anytime too soon. The plans are there but I don't think the preparation is 100% especially if the date is sometime in July. If the tourney doesn't go down I say we still have a friendly contest amongst each other just for fun, have a fish fry and share some stories... like a DB Miami gathering:friday

Lets see what happens, let me know if there is anything I can do to help out.

For real Tone, do something already, a metido una muela del carajo... si hay copetencia o no hay. Manda P!ng@ esto

Mahi you sure are one sharp guy.....CUCHILLO's da man:martial

I was kinda unsure of this show, but I guess it donhave2be perfecto on the first pass (seems its the nature of the beast...for me) so I'm gonna hit some local places see 'bout some "soft sponsors" find a place and put it out there...:friday
