These are a few shots gathered this summer from a few divers and friends in the Virginia and North Carolina surrounding areas. This is what it's all about, the fun and the comraderie of spearfishing with your buddies.

Platforms and reels

Hey and thanks for compliments on the shots fellas!

AJwaverider - that is a shoal tower, these towers are positioned at the edges of all the main shoals and capes in North Carolina and Virginia, to mark sandbars and perilous waters. We have them off Virginia Beach at the Chesapeake Light Tower and then south at Cape Hatteras, Cape Lookout off Moorehead City and near Wilmington on Cape Fear.

Murat - interestingly enough I shot this AJ with an alum. 50 reel packed with 180ft of 2mm 575lb test Dyneema instead of a float line. I use black 400lb mono for the shooting line. 7mm tahitian shaft.

That big 86lb amberjack didn't even take half the 180ft spool compared to the 30lb wahoo I shot a few weeks ago that literally emptied the same spool in less than 20 seconds of utter chaos. A loat is better for wahoo and tuna 'round here.

Great fish Mark.

I'm a fairly new mid-atlantic diver myself. Living in DC and the BW potomac river stuff is not that good....

Not a lot of spearo's up my way and I have been looking to find a club or group within reasonable driving time to link up with.

If you guys are up to helping a fellow diver out I'd appreciate it.

Let me know if you have space for another sometime.
