Martin has agreed to come up and teach a Freediving Monofin course for those that might be interested.
We need only 4 students to run one and it would take place over a 2 day weekend. Course costs would be $350 per person, plus we would all have to chip in to pay for his flight and hotel room. Pool and boat fees are extra. The more people who sign up the less it would cost each of us for the plane ticket/hotel room.
I don't know of anyone else in the area teaching something like this. I know that the Solomon's were doing monofin courses, but have since left the country. This would be considered an "Advanced" course and to join in you would need to have already taken a PFI intermediate course- or something similar through Apnea Academy or AIDA.
I have no date set as of yet because I want to see what kind of interest there is and which weekend would work out best for everyone's schedule. the idea would be to get as many people in the course as possible, yet still run it before things get too cold around here to really enjoy it. September is one of the better months to dive, warm water and air temps out on/in Lake Michigan, but I'm not tied to anything right now.
