Monofins for small feet!

I have size 36 feet and have a Special Fins carbon monfin with their own foot pockets (straps, not the whole Omer foot thingy!). However, they're still too big - too wide, and too long and the strap moves around on my heel when I dive making me feel like it's going to slip off - not a great feeling at depth!! Does anyone have any nifty solutions for making foot pockets smaller?

I have tried using neoprene socks, but they're all too big and so slip down my heel with the fin. I'm now using a half sock, but same problem. I'm considering flooding the spaces around my foot with silicone and seeing if that works, but there's no way back if it doesn't. Can I get inserts for the front and sides of the pcoket to push my foot back into the strap more tightly? The only other solution is a Russian fin, made to measure but have only just invested in this one, and want to try and make it work...

Silicone might be an idea, but would be anxious to do it myself too...

Donna might have some advice - she has the same problem and lined her foot pockets with neoprene fairly successfully.This gave better grip than a sock.

yes Sara, that's exactly what I did, I lined both my fins and monofin with some left over neoprene from my suit that Elios made me. I just glued it on securely with Black witch, works a treat as the neoprene in the fin gives the sock something to grip on to. Stick the neoprene wherever you feel you need more support in the footpocket, for me it was on the heal and across the top of my foot, so thats where I stuck the neoprene. I also used fin retainers as well just to be extra safe - like you, I only have a size 36-37 foot.

I can now dive without fear of my foot slipping out of the footpocket. The only downside is that I feel I don't get the full power through my feet and into the fin as my feet are not 'tight' in the footpocket, but for the sort of diving I do its not a major problem.

Hi Littlefreediver!

I know the problem, because my wife is mexican (indian to be true)
and her feet are really tiny.
What we did, was to locate at firsthand the points where the foot
transfers power to the footpocket and line these places with
solid (nonspongy) neoprene. Afterwards, when Your feet begin to
dance from side to side as You pedal the fin, You stuff up the rest with spongy neoprene. Consider the use of those spoonlike appliances that
help to fit tight shoes, they come in very handy.
