Monosocca Homemade Line Release

I obtained a C4 Monosocca for a very good price a while back, but it being an early version it didn't come with a mechanical line release, just a friction tab.

I didn't like that idea so decided to make one of me own based on that used on the Gabbiano. Drilling into that expensive carbon was not a decision I took lightly but I found a spot that was pretty thick and I only needed a 4mm deep hole so it didn't go all the way through the wall.

Works a treat.

Take a look at your vid in slow motion - frame by frame... notice how the tail of the spear is kicked up by the mechanism. My guess is that this will see see your spear shooting low. I'm willing to be proved wrong though - I hope it works for you.

Yeh I know mate, seen that, time will tell but in its defence the spear was only being pulled out by hand so in use I'm hoping the spear will be gone before it has the chance to flip it. Also the line was under quite a lot of tension from a bungie which was too tight as I only rigged it quickly, which flipped the bracket up, so I'm hoping in use it won't make too much difference.

The Gabbiano uses the same system and everything I read says thats one of the most accurate guns out there...

Its times like that that I wish I had a pillar drill Pastor, Mart said I should just tuck the line under a rubber band but where would be the fun in that!

The bands will hold that arse end down unless there is hellish tension on the line. no way that is shot with bands in the vid, you just wouldn't see it so clear, just 1 frame max in all probability

Maggers, Good job.. i tried that mechanism on the gabbiano and simply love it..so simple and effective..
The line release on the C4 Mr carbon, take a bit of getting used to, not as simple as that, but i dont have the guts to make holes in it
dont worry about accuracy, these things are lazers

Actually we were both examining how the hammerless trigger worked so Dave was in fact holding the gun up real close to our faces when he pulled the trigger.
The gun was pointing at the ceiling, it blew a hole through the plasterboard & 1/2 a dozen tiles of the roof!
We were shocked & deaf but the rest of the family were in the lounge & they were also a little shocked!
We also had some fun with a 9mm first world war semi auto pistol!

Great job, really, and great purchase. I love those guns!
Now get ready for step two: ballasting the muzzle!!!
But this time, my recommendation is don't drill any hole near the muzzle. If you use a thin 6mm shaft, and feel the gun is unbalanced in the front (too light in the muzzle), just stick a small plate of lead under it with waterproof sticky tape, or mould a ring of lead around the nose of the gun. I wouldn't make any more holes in it!!
One of my buddies has a Monoscocca 90 with 17,5mm bands and 6mm shaft, with nose ballasted by 10 grams of lead.

The guy I got it from said I'd need to balance it by adding a little to the muzzle too, but don't worry, its had its only encounter with my drill, I was very pleased I managed to get a deep enough hole to support the glued in bolts that the bracket hinges on without going through the wall of the gun

Once thats done, step three, shoot fishies

Hmm, didn't think about taking the cartridge out before pulling the trigger then mate? :blackeye
