Weird. What you get when you right-click the image and view Properties? Does it show the right URL? And what happens when you click View image on right-click? Did you try hard-reloading the page (click reload while holding the Shift key)?
You certainly may have local connectivity problems, but in that case it does not matter whether you use Mozilla, MSIE, Firefox, Opera, Safari or any other browser (well, most of them are based on Mozilla code anyway). Mozilla just like most browsers does not need to connect to the home server other than for updates.
