This weekend I went out to Catalina and was fishing off the Isthumus. My buddy dropped my sling spear in 57 feet of water.
This was my first time even trying to dive that deep but I said might as well try I gotta get my spear. So I began my decent, and man thats FAR!

It took me a couple times to get down and locate the spear. On my final decent down I couldn't clear my right ear. I kept diving and it eventually cleared.

Well I got the spear but my question for everyone is, after diving that deep for the first time my ears were a little sore for the next couple days, its Wednesday now, and I still am having a little problem clearing my right ear. Is this normal? Should I see a doctor?

Thanks!

Give it a day or two

I'd get it checked out.

If you damaged an eardrum you'll want to stay out of the water and let it heal.

Being unable to clear is a reason to stop going down. When I first started I would practice clearing all winter long until I was able to do it in the water with no mask or nose pinch.

I would probaly have it looked at just for safety sake.I've had the same probs and now I know when to quit while i'm ahead but being you had to get your spear just make sure your ears ok.I have a short leash on my pole spear with a big loop that I put my hand thru that keeps me from losing it but if I need to seperate from it, it will slide off my hand.
