my new boat

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
1) Cell & radio are fine. Don't waste money on sat because if the weather's really crappy it won't get through reliably.
1.A) Flares/gun, mirror, water, small first aid kit, package of hooks/line/sinkers/feather jigs, gloves, sunscreen, epirb (if'n you can afford one), inexpensive Midland handheld marine radio, extra batteries, bottled water, some e-bars & did I mention bottled water, all in a rapid egress dry bag (air inside will make it float).
2) On your boat have stainless wrap around installed on transom where kicker to go. Won't be much more than $200. You CAN mount it permanently but we always stowed (in heavy canvas case (see sportmansguide.com or cheaperthandirt for a surplus canvas case) & ready to go. Mount when needed. Believe me you can mount that little doover in 90 seconds --like when our old 85 hp Evinrude quit off the Port Aransas Pass jetties w/ fouled plugs (read: bad memory w/ good outcome). I would think a 9.5 - 15 hp is enough. Remember it's an emergancy auxillary motor. Run twice a year in a barrel to check out. Have a plastic fuel can full for use (add stabilizer like B-12).
3) Measure 3 times and cut/install once. Measure, ask a friend to verify & then ask nosey nieghbor same. Share your thought process. Sit & pretend you're gonna use it and then & only then install plate/wrap-around. Actually listen to input solicited.

Some danger of our sport with the nature of being on/in the ocean. No sense dancing in a thunderstorm naked & holding a lightning rod. I'm an Eagle Scout (and former USN). BE PREPARED!

yeah man!! when i get it situated we will kill some stuff. today we went to cosgrove shoal, in front of marquesaskeys,(sound familiar?) it should, its where we lost my anchor that day. LOL today was good weather ,(check out pics on florida/eastcoast section) . that spot is awesome on good days. oh well, next time i'll show you some good stuff.

ok, got two coats of color on the hull, outside. the bottom is painted with petit black hull paint. the sides are interlux two coat epoxy paint,(light blue) the gunwales are white withalittle no skid mixed in. the deck and inside walls of gunwale are a cream color. the center console is white. i had to reinforce the censole with up to 5 layers of glass in spots, to accomedate the new t top i got. i got a new canvas also, but i am waiting till the spraying is over to put it on. the trim and tilt is working good now and the engine has perfect compression. i put new starboard pieces in for the dash. and remounted all the gauges. both gas gauges work perfectly now also a new volt meter was installed i now have a tachometer, a voltmeter and two gas gauges only. i got rid of the speedometer and the stupid trim level indicator. the 12" lowrance is supposedly on the way in a week or so i still have to cut the vhf radio into the dash also, and mount the huge antennae we got the boat still needs a few more coats of blue paint and the dive platform needs to be painted white after hull is finished. (i am doing that myself) i still have to cut in delux pop up cleats we got too. i figure about two weeks it will be in the water. we are keeping it in the water at my buddies condo about 1/2 mile from my house. since it will be kept in the water, i installed TWO rule2000gph bilge pumps each wired directly to seperate batteries and hooked up to ultra junior float switches,(the best) i am still building a live well for behind leaning post seat. for now we are using a coverted 90 qt cooler this boat is f***cking bad ass!! we are calling the boat, "IMPALER" the motor needs to be replaced before we do too much of that. even though it is running perfectly, it is like 10 years old, but for now we want to run it for the summer and repower next year,(by the grace of god!)

its a beautiful looking boat - love the T-top :)
I bet you have a lot of fun with it!

Great Job man! it looks superv I am glad you took that big ass side rail that was surrounding the boat! With a t-top alone it makes it look like a bad ass Center Console glad to see you went for a T-Top and by doing so improved the boats look radically. Be expected to loose 2-5 mph in at Full open throlle but no biggie. A+ for the design. Would like to know how you are holding the base of the t-top to the florr self taping screws or did you put nuts and a piece of ss to make it hold ?

Removing the bow pulpit modernized the look of the boat big time. Love the blue and the T-top is gorgeous.

thanks. as far as the t top is concernerd. it is brand new for a sea pro, and it has 4 floor mounts and 10 mounts to bolt directly to the center console. i had to reinforce the center console with about 5 layers of glass to make it stiffer. the floor of the boat was just redone ,(before we got it) and it is a solid 1 1/4 thick. so i sanded the spot then put 5200 marine adhesive and pre drilled then put 2 1/2" x 1/4" shank stainless screws into the deck on all the floor plates , that make it pretty stiff but the console mounts in all the locations ,(10) makes it super stiff! it is solid as hell! this is a really nice t top! it is curvy and big and very solidly built. we are having a welder cut 4 of the mounts and extending them to fit our console, since it was made for a different boat. but for 800$ brand new, i am not complaining! since i was looking at differnt ones new for 3500 to 4000$ for a nice one.
