Guys...

Here ya go - I just finished this one. The gun is a 'semi-enclosed' track railgun. 9/32" shaft that is 54" in length. (shoots a 7.2 mm X 138 cm shaft)

2 - 5/8" bands or 2- 16mm bands)
Semi enclosed track - Track is deep enough that only a small portion of the shaft is visible with a shaft in the gun from a side view - This makes it easy to free shaft.
Stock is laminated teak with a maple highlight on the front of the handle as seen
Trigger is an Aimrite trigger by Aimrite Hawaii
Trigger guard is brushed stainless that I simply cut from a spoon !

Awsome :)
Homemade woodies are a delight to hunt with, although my input wasnt that much, I still feel a great delight in catching fish with something Ive had a part in creating :) Now that looks like a gun that will put fish on a stringer ;)

It really does. The speargun makers are beginning to show the sense of esthetics that has so many people fascinated with top-end hunting rifles and shotguns. Beautiful!

Bloody good analogy that Oldsarge!

Be careful if you test the gun in that pool mate the kids will have nowhere to swim if you put a couple of shafts through the sides.
Nice gun :)

Fantastic gun! I love its shiny look. How did you manage to achieve this glass effect? Did you spray the varnish or brushed it?

Additions to my gun....

Ok, I added band a butt pad, elevators, a small metal hoop to control shaft when going in and out of boat (I shoot the gun freeshaft) and a strap on handle bottom

She is ready for the fish harvest ! :p

No you do not - Key is this, Use body posture to get fish close to bottom (never freeshaft a fish with nothing to stop shaft behind it) then take a shot..... you will stone it, pin to bottom, or he may hole up - you just go grab and dispatch him....and if you shoot a large fish its safer - you are not tied to him and no line to tangle you....

Have you been in the sea with it yet? would love to see the first kill pics :)

Alison

I have not - seas have been pretty bumpy and vis was very low. I was hoping to go yesterday but too much work. I am hoping to go next week -

I will definately have a camera with me for some first kill pics !

I have been working on a tuna gun waiting for good seas..... It will be a nice gun, and a large one. The main stock is glued ,laminated, squared up. I will taper it tonight and cut the track I hope so I can work on handle this weekend......
