Neck weights in Hand luggage?

Hi,
did anyone of you take neck weights in form of rubber sausages into the plane via hand luggage?
My suitcase will be too heavy and I thought of taking them into the passenger area. But I fear they might take the lead out or even confiscate them.
Has anyone experience with that?

Yes I took a 1kg weight on easyjet and Ryanair this summer from Bristol to Tenerife and back - they did take it out to look and asked questions but I explained it was for freediving and they were ok. I think it is down to the individual officer though - I would say there are no guarantees it will be ok

Ive had it go both ways and if its a big neckweight it sucks to loose it so i play it safe now and put it in my checked in.

Yes a few times the inspector said i could use it as a weapon so i had to throw it out.:naughty
Ive never heard of anyone getting beat down by a neckweight before.

Keep in mind that neckweights are made of shotgun pellets....

In Egypt I had mine pulled from checked luggage, they had a look but were ok with it. I've never tried with carry on as i've assumed they wouldn't let it. Last time I travelled I was way overweight so I ended up putting a couple of lead weights in my carry on. No issue flying Australia to New Zealand, but on the way back the NZ'ers made me pull them out and looked at them - but allowed it. As Watts says, I think it comes down to Inspector's discretion.

i've had mine pulled from hand luggage. after a lot of moaning the flight attendants picked it up at the security check and handed it to the captain, who then returned it to me as I descended from the plane...

i will not try the hand luggage NW carry again.

One of our divers just had a load of regular weights confiscated from hand luggage on the way back from Malta to UK. Never got them back.

And neck weights are obviously freakier than belt weights.



... But try getting Kali beads into Egypt. that really freaked them out! rofl

i had mine taken by easy jet - i could use it as a club apparently, i'm glad i didnt tell them i was a trained boxer or they would of confiscated my hands also.

One of our lads tried to use the 'unlimited weight in hand luggage' rule to transport about 5-6kg back. He lost it all coming back from Nice.
