If you are at 100ft and are struggling then books probably won't help that much; a lot of people would use books maybe just to get to 100ft. If you can attend a class or go diving with a more experienced buddy then DO IT. Hell, many freedivers never need to go deeper than 100ft and still reap all the rewards - this ain't tennis mate, you are pushing your body to medical limits in an alien environment.

The trick, though, is getting back.
That's how I started freediving, by joining a pool training club. I didn't do a course, but I did pick up a lot from experienced freedivers and learnt 'on the job'. There was a good grounding in safety and rescue.jome said:

Its not about the depth its finally setting a goal/dream that hasnt been taken from you.
Anywho my descision is this I am going to read the book for info on equalization and diff breathing techniques. I only know what friends and people in the community have told me. I would also ask and talk to record holding spear fishers here on island. Becuase I thought if they can wait for fish underwater for 4 minutes Im sure they can share info. Also got info from people like Mark Laboccetta (indirectly). But Paul has a great point and though it should be cheaper, I understand, Kid wants to learn, mans got to pay the bills. So when ever I get the chance Im going to try to take the course with Ryuzo Shinomiya. He said that he can get me AIDA certified as well. Not sure what that is but I know its more experience and it opens doors. But in the mean time I too need to eat and pay bills so I will still fish just with in my limits and with more of a watchful eye by others.
