Dear Freedivers,
I would like to announce that the official dates for the 5th AIDA Freediving Team World Championship are December 1-12, 2006.
The three main factors that were taken into consideration when making the decision to change the championship dates from November to December were the season of Ramadan in Egypt which finishes at the end of October, the Dive Show DEMA in the U.S.A. which finishes in the second week of November and in addition the beginning of December is a somewhat lower season here in Hurghada, thus enabling us to ensure a somewhat lower participation fee.
In being consistent with the AIDA Regulations for International Freediving Competitions we will have the official championship website online five months before the championship (July 1, 2006).

If this is true then it's fantastic news (for me anyway). My brother had inadvertantly set the date for his wedding in Australia for the 3rd Nov so now I can go to both!

I am sure that the period of Ramadan was taken into account for the planning of the event allready first hand. Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan is on October 24th this year.

It's official news. so 100% sure that it's correct. But we have to wait for a few months to get the next information again, so we never know what kind of surprises will come up again. Unfortunatly most of the worldchampionships organizers aren't the best communicating people in the world.
