Wow, that's amazing :D I wish I could dive that long and deep ;)

Man, 1899 metres? Dude, thats nothing. I dove 3000 metres with swim goggles from Wal-Mart and no wesuit or fins!

What a dumb article! The article claims the previous 'record' was 4000ft (1219m) by the sperm whale. In fact, even elephant seals have gone over 1800m, and sperm whales have done 3200m. The 1899m 'record' isn't even close to the real record!

One of the articles mentioned a clarification, the beaked whale was tracked "regularly" diving to this great depth, while the sperm whale has only been determined to dive extremely deep "intermittently".

I'm not saying this is true, just that I read it in an article.

An apnea time of 85 minutes is not bad! "Give me my first tap at 60 minutes, then 75, then every 5 minutes"

That was dynamic apnea, Naiad :)
Actually, when I posted the link for this article a month ago I obviously didn't know about the elephant seals and sperm whales records, but CDNN is a reputable publication, not known for printing/posting unverified news. Of course I am sure Eric is right, so I guess this was the exception.

oooh touche' jose' rofl

Lucia slap on the wrist! rofl

CDNN normally publish a load of bollox IMHO. Elephant seals, as Eric says, can dive deeper. Normally to 2000metres.

rofl rofl rofl

I thought my 85 minute static was quite good, I can't imagine doing a dynamic that lasts that long!
