Hi freedivers!
Does anyone own such a beast? Any feedback from underwater?

I do. I love it! :inlove
Eric is still working on the freediving software - so the surface display is wanting, but it is fabulous at depth. I prefer the simple display. The brightness and size combined with the angle make it so that you do not really have to look directly at the guage. If your arm is anywhere in front of your eyes its quite easy to read.

According to the specs it can be set to as little as a 2 foot activation depth for pool work.

Hi Igor,

I think the flash will be pretty noticeable - the gauge is very bright - but I've yet to use that part of it. The gauge does have a fairly high profile. Personally I don't think the drag is significant. Eric has said he does not think competitive divers will be attracted to it but I don't see a problem.

For spearos and rec divers its a no-brainer - the gauge is so easy to see that you do not really have to look directly at it. I think most competitive divers do not check their guage during a dive - so this is less relevant to them.

One thing to add - the freediving software is still under developement - so now the gauge is geared for scuba. It works quite well, regardless, but will be much better with the freediving software.

I have it on good authority that two of the best minds in the freediving community are designing and writing the software for the Xen!!

I've finally got in the water with the Xen and Freediving Firmware. This is easily the most capable freediving Guage ever created. I snapped a couple of pics of it in action - Very shallow diving today just exploring all the recently hatched out life along some of the local break walls. The Xen gives information that no other gauge can match. I cannot wait to start some deeper dives with it. It is a phenomenal training tool. The pics have refresh rate issues because I forgot to adjust the rate on the gauge! Amazing unit.
