Hello out there! I am not only new to this site, but also new to the diving world. I live on the West coast of British Columbia. I competed Nationally as a synchronized swimmer until my teens and have been working as a lifeguard ever since. I am hoping to make my first goal of sixty feet for a free dive this summer. I'm not sure if anyone out there is familiar with the "Emerald Lady", a mermaid sculpture near Powell River, B.C. Well that is my goal. Any advice for training practices would be appreciated!
Cheers everyone. Happy diving!!

Welcome fellow Canadian!

I just got my niece involve with synchro, with the hopes of freediving and spearfishing with her one day. :D

I've also seen BIG breath holds from ex-synchro swimmers.

Welcome aboard, I have heard of this mermaid-does she swim in saltery bay? In the summer I stay on a boat just a little north of powell river in Lund so I know a little about the local diving. I have been freediving for close to 40 years now so I should be in a position to give advice, but I think really just keep at it-,relax and be totally comfortable in the water, make sure you spend a lot of time in it and your goal of 60 feet will soon be realized cheers .
