New front mounted snorkel needed???

Hey Jon and Brianna,

The reason the snorkel floods on every monofin stroke is usually that you are bobbing your head/upper body too much with each stroke. Classic finswimming technique has your upper body relatively fixed in a streamlined position and all the work of undulation done by your core muscles, hips and lower back.

I have both the Waterway and Finis snorkels and I would agree that the Finis version is way more comfortable and it can be rotated for side swimming.

Didn't have any coffee this morning and it shows (yes, I'm on a coffee binge this month)....I see that I've made an almost identical post earlier on in the thread.

Pete,

It depends upon what Finis snorkel your talking about. One of mine i can swim for miles with and not suck in any water. The other bends up around the head and comes so far back that anything besides a front crawl in calm water causes water to come in. I've never had a chance to try any other type of front mounted snorkel.

I know that technique can play a huge roll in sucking in water but I think I've got it down, from the lack of a head bob point at least, to rule that out when it comes to the one snorkel.

The ideal snorkel in my mind would be a hybrid between an Impulse II rigid snorkel with the excellent mouthpiece and purge valce, wide "tube", and anti-splash thingy at the top.
