So there's a study on elite freedivers that then makes some claims about recreational freedivers? Who says that recreational freedivers reach the same state (in terms of heart function) as elite freedivers?
Also it would be interesting to see what happens in the hearts of other diving mammals.

Edit: Another study by the same authors: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10877-015-9662-2 which might be interesting as well. This might be interesting to tie links to the AIDA paper that is currently written on O2 saturation to detect squeezes.

As the original paper is a conference proceeding I can't seem to find a copy yet. If anybody has it, please PM me. Even if it's just the link as I might have access to it.
