On the spearfishing front, the guys have also been climbing on the band wagon and three SA records were set and broken this week. It has been a while coming, but we are finally getting the hang of spearing these fish and the three records set were yellowfins of 58, 63 and 69 kg. According to the divers that landed these fish, it is a case of shoot, pray, and then hang on for the ride of your life. Tommie Kruger shot the 69kg fish near the tail and apparently got pulled around by something akin to a steamtrain. This type of spearfishing must be the pinnacle of blue-water hunting and is certainly not for the faint hearted. I have no doubt there wll still be many records set, but at the same time there will be as many stories of smashed or lost gear and near death escapes.
Hell Yeah !!
