Hi Guys almost got all my equipment together im sure there are some posts that are must reads , if someone can point me in the right direction with a link ! Thanks! ;)

What kind of posts are you looking for? We have a search function as well as a Spearfishing Equipment subforum, so you'll probably find what you're looking for here.

Ok I'm interested in knowing the mindset of a spearo starting off?
From dealing with the simplest obstacles to the most challenging ? Breathing techniques im quite in tune with as well as gear .... more info from the beach onto pass the surf. .

Howzit Trey101 and welcome to deeperblue. :)

A good place to start would be miles's dummies guides, quite a bit of info there:

Dummies guide to Spearfishing - Part I
Dummies guide to Spearfishing - Part II
Dummies Guide to Rigging a Speargun

The fast track to effective spearfishing is to try and hook up and dive with more experienced spearo's. Also consider doing a freedive course, this will provide you with a good base to start from.

Other than that the only thing is to get in the water and dive. Don't be too fussed about going deep or shooting trophy fish. Firstly get used to environment and learn how to relax and enjoy the sea, the rest will follow naturally.

Thanks Guys the reading material on this site is just awesome !
Been going through every page like an addict.
Think the best pages about sharks really helped to deal with that fear though I still get the creeps now and again, been out just snorkeling and wish I had a gun with me.
Anyways im picking up this Rob Allen 1.3m speargun with reel and powered down bands to make it easier to pull back this Saturday can't wait to shoot some S##t up lol
