hi people

i am new to deeperblue today!

i will start with a spearing trip off of the west coast of guernsey ci yesterday

got wet @ about 5.00pm (half tide up)and rising/ spent two hours 30 mins in with my buddy sgt pepper,

we swam (freedived) throu two bays

vis was about 6-10 foot with a building swell and increasing west winds

within 2 mins sgt pepper speared a rock fish(bullan rasse) 1lb or so..

from the edge of the bay/headland we followed the tide in

pepper and myself shot at a couple of grey mullot but missed!

as we got closer in shore we started to use the high sea weed /rack/rocks etc for more cover/together with the camo suit etc we started to get closer to the fish to enable closer quaters shooting

a few mins later i broardsided a 2.5pound mullot, fixed it on to the catch ring and carried on hunting

60 70 mins or so later the tide/swell had everything in a good motion
3 more nice mollot were speared varying 2-3 lb or so

as the vis/daylight started to fade(poor weather conditions/heavy cloud swell /wind )we headed back across the two bays, the swim back was good fun and hard going due to the good old atlantic swell

30 meters or so from where we were going to pull our selvs back on to terrafirma i spotted a nice looking bass!!
he was making good speed and was feeding i think//he was not sitting around sniping food...that was my job!!

the bass came back around to my left (10-12foot away) he was making a
departure thats when i took the shot
my mares cyrano 850 was at arms lenth//vis at that distance was poor
the spear just sliced the top of his head at full reach
he was stunned (but not on the spear/string)
i swam over as fast as i could grabbed him buy the the gills
and he was mine:t 2lb or so

this was my 4th spearing hunt this year

the last hunt i went on i took 3 mullot 2-3lb,, 1 bass 4lb or so from the same spot

on this occassion i had fixed a spear cam to my gun

I recorded 3 of the five kills this time round and will post the finished clips soon

thanks people and happy spearing
