hello everyone,
right, so a few months ago i went to the local swimming baths with a friend and he challenged me to swim a length of the pool (25meters) on the bottom on the water. after barley making it 7 meters i decided to make it a goal every time i went swimming. in 10 sessions ive managed to go from barley 7 meters to a respectable 30.
i got the life guard to spot me yesterday while i tested how long i could hold my breath under water, which turned out to be 2.5 minutes.
for a 26yr old who does no fitness, weights, and who smokes im very pleased with what ive accomplished so far.
i am so pleased with my self that ive decided i may as well commit my self to it and do it properly.

MY QUESTION;
ive been to numerous diving shops in south Devon (England) in search of a neck weight to aid me in my training but cannot seem to find one for sale anywhere.
ive read bits about people making them but i just wouldn't know where to start.
does anyone know where i can buy one from or would anyone be willing to make me one, i am willing pay of course. it would be a huge help.

yours faithfully

Hey there, and welcome to your inner self! You have 2 options - DIY or off the shelf. For DIY just buy some lead shot from a gun shop or other trader, a mountain bike inner tube, a set of plastic clips (like you find on backpacks) and some electrical tape, then google freediving neck weight on YouTube and follow the directions. Or if you want something really cool go to the ApneaMan.com site and ask Martin to assist you. He's a cool guy with some excellent gear. Enjoy

And a last one: I strongly advise you to get some instruction. Either via Apnea Academy or Aida. AA is Umberto Pelizzari's school. Cheers
