New WR static for Tom Sietas 9'15''

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I'll too hope we will see the big 10 somewhere this year. In which case I'll Hope that Tom does more than 10'05", out of respect of Stefan Mifsud's most impressive French Record of 10'05".

I'll hope Tom also succeeds in the retaking of some dynamic records, good for the record-competition, and freediving in general.
It's cool to see a diver using bi-fins outdoing all the monofining freediving talents, spurring them to even greater hights!

Love, Courage, Water!

Kars

Well, under SUCH relaxing conditions anyone would do 9.15. The bagpipes playing one minute before OT surely gives him one minute extra! :)

Great stuff. Thanx

Hi everybody!!

I was just wandering HOW this incredible athletes, can manage such a long time in this calm way. What I want to say is that apart from the incredible time result of their performances, what is amazing for me is that you can't quite see they are suffering..may be that is a stupid question but does someone know if they use some particular psychological technique??

Thanks!!
Miki

Linda, for you it is difficult to know it, because it is known freedivers suffer with you even above water, so you probably do not see any difference.

nooo!!! don't tell me! freedivers are suffering when they hold their breath for 10 minutes? i really cannot believe that!

sorry Linda,

probably my message was not clear:blackeye..I just don't understand how it is possible that after a 9 min. static they can control so much contractions without mooving any other muscle..they looks like in trance..

Miki

CONTROL1 and lots of training.

mapping out the dive step by step and being metally prepared for the struggle phase of the dive. thats how they do it, lots of practise!

6 times a week, 1 max breathhold a day, was the training for Tom.

If you're a beginner this is not, NOT recommended to you!

I don't know what Stephan's training was, but I believe he ate a special diet of just pasta and salad for a month up to his latest 11'35" (!) world record performance.

I did one 7' once, and indeed after 2'30" it get uncomfortable, progressively so. Though sometimes things are in tune, and I can distance myself of the few physical things happening and become an observer who does not feel all the discomfort I would normally. This indeed is a trance like state of mind, and it's very lucid and enjoyable.
