New Years Day OUTLET Outing

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Whopperhead, as you know my days of killing fish for the near future are limited. That being the case I will try to control myself tonight and be ready to travel tomorrow where-ever you roam.

The Outlet - is OFF! very thick ice over it- so.........South Shore Yatch Club -Milwaukee - tomorrow at 10am. I know Tass and I will be there and I think TOL might show up- Anyone else want to give it a shot- We'll see you at 10am.

Get us some good video so we can check it out...Wish I had my suit...I'm puttin' in my order at the end of February...I can't wait 'til spring! I did get to try my fins in a pool the other day...They were awesome...I could'nt quit looking down at them!

The wife and I are still waiting for the twins to arrive...So far so good...everything is just fine...They can come any day now with NO complications. Mama is already at 34 weeks!

Tass...Are you going back to active duty or what?

Bummer that "the outlet" is froze over this year...

Be safe guys! And have fun!

Oh....And, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Sitting here waiting for a trip report ..... ..... ..... ..... .....

Trip Report?.........How about FREAK'N COLD! Good thing you didn't make the trip Chris- Vis was about 5-6 feet in most areas- No fish what so ever- but that could be due to the 28 Degree water! We did see a Penguin, a Polar Bear and a Ice Berg....ok, maybe not a polar bear. My toes got a little cold again and Tass's hands were numb from the lack of blood circulation.

There was a TOL sighting- It was good to meet him- and I hope to go diving with him in the future. He could not go in due to a sinus cold.

All in all (as Tass would say) "That wasth an exthperienthce"

MAN! And I missed it! I was just sittin here ready to order Tatter Mitts from this infomercial and I could have been diving!

Yes, my hands were in pain. I have a pair of Henderson 7 mm five-finger gloves that seemed to fit fine when we went to Mendota. By the time we got in the water today, they hurt from being too tight. When we got out, after about an hour and a half, they were hurting real good. At least when there's pain you are still in the fight. Numb is bad.

To answer your question BGILL, I will be going to California for two weeks in February and will ultimately be mobilized for a little over a year from then. I will be at Ft. McCoy so I will be close to home at least. Should get some dives in still.

Good to meet you TOL. You at least seem to have some sense. Looking forward to diving with you.

Wow...I guess I'm not sorry I was not able to make it...She was a cold one today...I didn't even go ice fishing...Oh well, better luck next time. The Sheboygan power plant is rarely shut down, so the water should be much nicer for 1/19/08!

It was a cold one this weekend, my son and I were outside for about 5 hours on Sunday, not in the water though. We did watch the Packers win over the Lions in Green Bay. I was going to say, I have a freind who works at MG&E in Madison, maybe I can get some insight on if they'll ever turn on the warm water in the outlet.
Later,

Brian

28 degree water?!?! I alway thought water twice that temp was cold........

That's impressive you guys.......Thanks for posting pics Scott.

The water was cold- but I was still fairly warm in the body and gloves. I am impressed with the 5mm open cell suits! It sucks we didn't see ANY fish- I would of stay'd in the water if there were fish- We didn't really see any junk under the docks either- Tass found a Ladder and a Carp skeleton and I saw a chicken bone- but that was it. I also pulled a muscle in my neck- so I was uncomfortable with my dives- I looked over the break wall to see how big the waves were and they were BIG! 4-5 footers! I'm thinking Sheboygan will have fish to offer- at least baitfish or something!

I think the reason you didn't see any fish was because the image froze in your eye when you put your face in the water because of the cold rofl

That carp Skelly was prolly the carp I lost the last trip! Unless it was small hahaha.

Carefull with the muscles. I noticed that I was getting really tight that day at the outlet. My legs felt like they could cramp at any time. That was at the end, about the last 1/2 hour as I was getting cold.

I do have to agree with Scott about the 5 mm open cell. My body was very comfortable throughout the swim. My feet started getting cool with 5mm socks, but weren't bad enough to quit. I also have farmer jon bibs as well.

Whopperhead and Tass
It was great to meet you both and a shame I couldn't dive. Your descriptions of numb hands and poor vis temper my frustration quite a bit, but not completely.

Stopped by the outlet on my run today and it's WIDE OPEN. Of course, the water isn't on and I didn't see any fish, but the water was crystal clear and the abnormally warm weather is going to open things up even further in the next couple of days.

AWESOME! I'll be there on TUESDAY- If it's not Raining - Anyone want to go- I'll be there at noon.

I'd love to go, but I need to work. Earlier and I'm probable.

I can't go earlier cause I have to take and pick up my kid from pre-school- What about WED? Weather looks like it might be better on Wed - Partly Sunny - At least that is what they say "today".
