Hi all,

I am very new to freediving having only done some basic snorkeling until now. Looking to get myself on some courses over the summer along with some others from around here (courses all down south as there doesn't seem to be any in the area).

In the meantime, I am looking for some pointers for good areas around Boulmer. (Willing to do a little travelling). Really looking to get into spear fishing in the coming months so some reasonable fish spots would be excellent and company is always a bonus if anyone doesn't mind a newbie tagging along on the shallower holes.

For a spears course check out Steve millard. Learn to freedive.com or somebody uk. He is based in North west and does sessions in N wales and Scotland. He has been in the game for years and really knows his stuff. There's a course in wales 19th of June

You've got some good spearfishing down there. I've never been that far S but I think Dunstanburgh isn't too far N? It's a good pollock area but does have some big currents....... But that's why the good pollock are there I guess.
There used to be a few spearos down your way but I'm not sure if they're still at it or not.
There's a NE spearfishing group on fb - might be worth posting there if you're not keen on going alone.

Thanks very much for the pointers .... going to give Facebook a bit of a try as well. Apologies for the delay in responding; I have been out of the country with work. Dunstan burgh is pretty close to me and I have caught a few large pollock on line nearby. Cod and flatties are also in abundance so reckon it could be worth getting into the water.
