Hey water folk I went freediving recently and I maxed out at 45feet because I just didn’t have air to equalize. I have to equalize every 10-15feet and by the time I get to 45feet I’m out of air. How do I cope with this? I equalize by holding my nose and pushing but I am aware of other techniques it’s just they are sorta difficult. I’ve been freediving about a little over a year and no I don’t have any freediving certs but I am advanced scuba certified TDI

you've answered your own question.. you've gotta use the other techniques. i understand that they are difficult to learn for some people but they are not as difficult to perform at depth as valsalva is without air available.

Take a look on YouTube at Adam Stern - Frenzel Equalisation or Emma Farrell Frenzel Technique. Both are very good. You basically need to use the back of your tongue muscles. It'll come with practice.
