Thinking of going out this afternoon to danger rock porthmadog. Been there?

Quick report from a session on Monday, South llyn . Arrived couple hours before low , managed to extract a bit of 'black gold' from some reef and went in search of bass. Nothing much to report on that front apart from spooking a huge bass out of the kelp that rocketed past me . This thing must have been approaching 8-10lbs , It actually scared me it was so big and unexpected and fast! Missed a mullet and that was it . visibility milky 2-4m ,lovely day to be out though.

Trefor now 4.40 on low not looking too good light westerly blue sky

Hey matt, where you fishing? Pm or call me if I can help.

I had some funny looks the other day when returning to car with gun descretly hidden by fins so boys n girls be carefull out there . People are watching on here and out on the coast put a good responsible image forward to public and each other respect sizes and the way we collect crustation ect we should all know law and ethical time to take sea life.to preserve it for the future .happy hunting.

Hope there wasnt any trouble ian? totally agree, we have a good reputation at the moment, lets keep it that way. whilst its a sport its only right to play fair, no spearing lobbys (catch em the hard way) no easy targets that have been around longer than we have (20 year old wrasse) and no scallops out of season ( some people rely on them for a living) - if you are game to go in in winter, you deserve all you can get! sure we all break the odd rule on occasion but lets keep it the exception rather than the rule or you might as well get a trawl net out.

Cheers foxy, I knew I had made a bad choice before I got in the water but had external pressures. I agree with all that your saying boys be friendly and chat to people - they see a big speargun and presume were mutters. I have never experienced any negativity just people being very surprised about what we do.
