Looking at the surf reports there is a bit of swell on the south side. North side might be ok. Next weekend it might be ok on the north provided the swell doesn't come up more than forecast.

Interesting part about the sea grass beds at Porthdinllaen - I saw loads of grass washed up after the rough weather in August - doubt it would be fishy but would be fun to take a look if I'm ever up there. Far, FAR too many seals at Porthdinllaen for my liking! Last time I popped up with Daf there was an army of them on the rocks at the point.

I'll give that a watch layer. I might take a dive over Porthdinllaen way in the summer and look for the seals, are they friendly bro?

I'm off for some depth training at lunch time in a 4 degrees cold flooded quarry. Yep, looking forward to that.

After hearing about all of the beach erosion that's been happening around the country, especially on Gurensey and in Cornwall, I'd hoped that the Llyn wouldn't have suffered too badly... as it turns out, there has been some quite shocking changes to the coastline that may have some serious impact on where we fish.
Hells mouth has, understandably, taken a battering but the worst hit spot to my knowledge is Aberdaon beach. People are reporting that all of the sand has been stripped off huge areas of the beach leaving only clay. From the now exposed jetty remains, I'd guess that 1.5 feet of sand has been stripped from the beach. Pics pinched from jbsarn @ WSF:
As most of us find on the Llyn, the best fishing is where rocks meet sand... but what about where rocks meet clay...? There used to be good beds of worms on the beach, I'm guessing that all these will have gone.
Not that Aberdaron is a great spearing spot but one thing that's for sure, if the beach is now clay, even the tiniest swell will reduce the viz to zero. Not ideal, that's for sure. Can't see it being any good for the local tourist trade either. I wonder how long it will take for the sand to come back?
I know that Porth Oer and Porth Ceiriad can change a lot after a storm - anyone know anything about them?

I was just talking to the Mrs about exactly that !.no sand no food no fish! If the crabs shrimp worms sea fleas etc have all gone !What will seagulls eat ! Where will all the sand of gone ?well either the next bay/beech like normal natural erosion one wares away one grows .or I think we may have a much deeper beech going sea ward ?the sand stripped will possibly settle as soon as it is out of the surf zone .It could work out good ?a very wide long shallow beech ?Come on where's all these marine biology students when you need them?
The beaches are in a mess at the moment but it is likely that they will be in a low tide bar configuration meaning that the sand has been moved a little offshore. Given a few weeks of calmer conditions we should see the sand moving back towards the beach. Fingers crossed
