I've seen the Oceanos wetsuits in action, they don't last the ones i've seen. Polosub is the way forward

Agree but they are pricey in comparison, you can have two oceanos suits for the price of one Polosub....

Oceanos. The seams come apart, threads hanging off, they flush.... Buy cheap, buy twice, and the second time still wont last as long as a better quality suit. Just my opinion

Well I have one so I will let you know if I agree at the end of the year....it kinda depends on how much you are going to use it. A good 5mm surfing suit has done me fine for the last 5 years and that's diving all the way through winter (albeit in Devon). I am interested to see how a 2 piece diving suit compares.....

I'm with apneaboy, I've heard nothing but bad things about Oceanos - I'd go for a Cressi - they're £150 from Scubastore - you can't go wrong with that!

Cheers guys, 7mm it is then. Any idea how much lead will be required? I am 85 kg or there about...

Was looking at Polosub and Elios but will go the Cressi route... Don't want to spend mega bugs on a custom suit then loose the extra bulk I accumulated over the holidays as it won't be a perfect fit then...

To be completely honest, I didn't even see it! I heard it thump when it bolted but I only saw it when I played the video back - pretty pleased to get them on film!

I use my 8 yr old Oceanos 5mm bottoms in the yak and their fine. Maybe I've just been lucky ?

It's the lens on the camera constantly focussing in and out - you can't hear it normally but underwater, as there is no insulation / casing on my camera, it gets picked up really strongly by the microphone. Pretty annoying! I'll get a GoPro this year - as they have a case, the lens motor is insulated from the water so it's pretty much silent.

I was still using my first Oceanos suit after 5 years of heavy use & I then passed it on for even more use.
I have two more including a double lined model all of them are nothing but long lasting & superb value!
I really don't get the negative comments, Oceanos suits have world wide praise, I would hardy go out and buy three in a row if there were likely to fall apart.
Every one to their own I suppose !

Totally understand the viz can be very bad. This is perhaps why I wanted a 90cm gun as I will do a lot more spearing from a kayak/sib in North Wales, viz tends to be slightly better on my off-shore marks... I will want to however have a good all round speargun so will go for the 80cm rather as shore diving sessions will feature on the cards.

Had much better viz than these pics but I generally take pics above the water so have limited underwater pics. On these days viz was very bad for the first mile or so perhaps under a meter but gets much better over the reefs further out... Hopefully the next lot of pics will include a spear in it (except for the tope, lol)

Filmed in 720p using my Gopro 3 and just took screen-shots off the video... Would have looked better in 1080p but reduces recording time.

Hi guys.

I registered here last year but was so busy with other commitments I never ended up getting spearfishing gear sorted but this year I'll be much more dedicated. Going to fit fins, mask etc on this Saturday and maybe get a suit sorted, hopefully a 5mm suit will be suitsble for North Wales area... Would prefer getting a custom suit but might just look at Cressi Technica for time being.

Gun wise I'll be getting a Rob Allen Carbon as I bought one while in SA but they still need to manufacture the new carbon guns. I was thinking getting a 90cm one or will I be better off with a 70 or 80, just want a good all round gun for all over the UK and the odd trip over to SA for inshore fish etc.

Anyhoos, hopefully will report back in due time with reports etc and meet up with you guys...

Hi Chris,

If I were you and only wanted to buy one gun,I'd get an Omer ET Roller 75,It handles nicely for short stuff,which lets face it,will be mostly what you,ll be hunting in,but has probably the same range as a regular 90,i have the 85 and its a tackdriver at 15ft,i love it.
I'll also give a shout out for Elios custom suites,i have mine 7 years,and It didn't cost much more than a high end off the peg cressi/omer.
I hunt 70 miles to your south west,in Wexford ,so I presume the conditions are very similar.
