The best example of red under water is the Scorpion fish, it looks grey on the bottom but at the surface it's a bright red / orange - there are better videos but this one shows the effect off ok:
Does the Scorpion fish disappear...? Not really but it seems hard to spot - probably harder than if it were black. Maybe a bright red would work but Dario's suit is dark red, which I'd guess would just look black underwater...?

Sooner or later all the colours turn to that blue grey tone. Red does it before the others that's all.
My fins are red. I've had them for quite some time. They are Dive R fins from Australia. Probably the most widely used fins out there. Dario is right, they do turn a grey blue colour after descending a couple of meters.
Fish would be so confused they would have to have another look and....boom, Fuchsia tartan wetsuit. The ultimate hunting tool. Lol.

I thought the video was amazing until I realised that at no point to any of the fish seem to move, they just seem to die almost instantly while the guy taking the video just flails around.
Either the guy is some sort of spearfishing god or he's trolling hard! Opinions?

definite bull ! The guy gloats way to much to be real, over emphasing everything mindlessly fidgeting with his kit . And as you mentioned a lot of dramatic flailing. Cant imagine bass sitting motionless like that either at any point , let alone with that guy churning 1foot of water like a damn Labrador after a tennis ball

No, I'm sharing a torch that I saw.
Going for a dive at night is one of the most amazing things you can ever do - the sea is a completely different world in the dark, so full of life that you'd never even notice in the day. You don't need to take a gun to enjoy it!
I go with my girlfriend and don't take a gun.
If you don't take the gun then it's fine. Too many people in Facebook exhibiting large hauls made at night and many others congratulating them. It's ridiculous and it disgusts me.
I agree with that buddy, I don't like to see people with huge hauls of fish, I find that pretty horrible.
I've been on about 10 night dives, I've taken a gun 4 times - I'm not sure about taking it, although it seems fun, it doesn't quite seem right.
I go out at night for the experience, not the spearing. When you swim out, turn the lights off and just lie there in the water staring at the stars - that's pretty awesome. There are few things more magical than when you see the bio-luminescence for the first time!

Too big a haul of fish day or night is bad news for stocks and the sport. Night just allows those that are that way inclined to do it more easily.
