prior to moving to the hinterlands I freedove, now relegated to pools. I've been doing some dynamic in the pool but know little about technique. Primary, q's are do you dolphin kick? what is the the best method for making the turn at the wall. I have found that my blades actually suction to the wall when I go to turn-which begs the question of whether or not pushing off the wall is kosher. (I'm swimming in a 25yd, so lots of turns)Lastly, should I be using my reg. long blades for diving (not the carbon though) are they what's used in comp? mahalo for any feedback. Ddown

I'll tackle the fin suction. There are several different approaches. You can push off the wall with the bottom of your feet at an angle to the wall, so the blades don't suction or you can not push off or very little. As you approach the wall, put one hand on the bottom and pivot around it. Your knees bend and fin blades go vertical for minimal drag. Takes a bit of practice. Another option is a flip turn. The trick on this is to return to the surface to turn. After the flip, your heels are on the wall, blades in the air. Push off and go deep again as you are turning over. If you are used to a competitive turn, this feels completely goofy, but works with practice. It keeps your speed up but is not at all relaxing . As such it may not work well on max dynamics.

If you are looking for distance or practicing for open water diving or a competition, definately use your longfins.
