numb hands

I'm trying to get my girlfriend into spearfishing and so she comes out and snorkels with me while I'm spearing, but while the water here in north new zealand isnt that cold (i think its around 21 degrees, maybe colder) she seems to get numb hands almost instantly, while the rest of her isnt that cold. And no the obvious advice of "get her some gloves" doesnt apply we've already done that. I'm just wondering if numb hands is a bad sign of some other effect of freediving. Someone is gonna give me an obvious overlooked answer I just know it haha. And on the same token, I have two 2.5 mm wetsuits, one is a medium one-piece and one is a large one-piece, i was wondering if it would work to wear one over the other once the water has gotten a bit colder here this winter.

Is the suit too tight under the arms? That could cut circulation to the hands & then cause numbness. :head

Definitely make sure about the circulation, then put a thicker suit on till she sweats Layering does work, and if you keep the core warm the hands will be warm too. Not that a Florida boy needs to lecture a Canadian on how to stay warm or anything...

it could be many things, but the usual suspects are:
1- gloves too tight
2- suit is too tight
3- gloves too thin
4- suit not thick enough

now, if she normally has clammy hands on dry land, it just might be that she is naturally predisposed to getting numb hands. my mom has that problem, which is probably the only reason why i havent thrown in a perverted remark

hahaha thanks guys, mostly what i figured, I'll look into how tight her wrists are...man I'm setting myself up aren't I?
