...didn't Walter Steyn do a 71m Australian national record in Hawaii last year?

maybe 60m is a New Zealand record?

Hey since I did 71m does that mean I have the New Zealand record as well ?

A quick clarification to all,

These continental records are FREE records, not AIDA records, and were set following FREE rules and standards. No disrespect intended to anybody who may have gone deeper under the AIDA banner. In the mean time, do remember that for most official purposes that part of the world is known as the continent of "Australia-Oceania" and a New Zealand record it's not an Australian record but it is a continental record for both Australia and New Zealand and vice-versa of course.

I think that it's pretty clear that the freediving community has mild contempt for organization "A" declaring a record in discipline "X" when organization "B" has a deeper record in that discipline. This kind of behavior really seemed to erode respect for AIDA in the community.

Up to now, FREE seemed to be on the high road on this point, so it's a little strange to see them doing this. A 60 M constant ballast dive is good, but not great -- a few guys that I dive with have done it.

That said, congrats to Bevan Dewar on the 55 M no fins. Now that is impressive!.

is there a website ANYWHERE that actually has a list of all FREE records, and/or all AIDA records?

no offense, but the FREE website is a joke; the records and news don't appear to have been updated since 2002.
