Anybody heard whether the folks at IMAX or whatever have resolved whatever issues they had about releasing "OceanMen" on DVD?

I know there have been threads posted on this previously, but the most recent one I saw (and I could be wrong on this) was in June of last year, at which time there was no news. Please forgive me if there was a more recent post and I missed it. The clips I've seen on the web have left me salivating for more.

Juan-John,

OceanMen is produced by H5B5, a German company. It went bankrupt not too long after the film was released. They were bought out by another company but the OceanMen project was of interest to the new owners. So, there is unlikely to be a released version of OceanMen at all.

So if the owners are no longer interested in it, does anyone have a pirated copy that they'd like to share. Maybe if enough people are stealing it, they will wake up and start selling us legal copies.

I wonder what the laws are, on pirating things which are not available for sale. It isn't like you could have purchased it anyway; 'stealing' is usually a term used when someone acquires something without paying for it, but when you can't pay for it anyway, then what?

BTW, Pax, there is still the oceanmen TV movie (shown on Discovery Channel). Many people have copies of it on VHS that they recorded off of TV. It is 2 hours, vs. 45 minutes for the IMAX version, with almost 100% overlap.

Thanks Eric, I'll keep an eye out for it. Maybe someone with the skills could make it available as a DIVX.

Is it the same company that has the rights for both the IMAX feature and the TV feature? Which one is it?

Anybody know how to make an Internet petition? We could call for both features on the same dvd...
