When the line release is engaged, it lifts the back of the shaft up and throws it off a bit. When the spear is shot, the line release mechanism pushes up till the catch of the shaft pases through.

Why would they design it that way?

Upon further review................

I determined that my newly-installed open muzzle keeps the band level below the shaft and thus levels the shaft; however, this still remains a concern as the release is MUCH rougher using the line release and the little jump at the end can't help accuracy.

I converted the overall gun to open muzzle with a track, but with such a light gun(used to wongs & riffes), I can't see any concievable reason why they would design it this way.

Some people drink and get into fights....... others ponder speargun mechanics. :friday

I noticed the same probalem when I awitched to a mono shot-line. the tension would push up on the spear.

the line release is simple enough - ising the spear itself as the release mech. just somewhat flawed for accuracy.

Re: Beuchat

How did you convert the gun to an open muzzle with a track? Please send photos if possible. Thanks.

I'll write up a post tonight ;)

Been kind of lazy getting around to it.... was supposed to do so for amphibious a while ago

Edit: Tonight is apparently a very liberal term........ I'll start a new thread when it gets done :(
