from a long day of freediving......

Saw this fellow at about 150yrds down a forestry service road and decided a stalk was in order. took a lot of creeping but eventually caught up to him, these pics taken @ approx 20yrds. sometimes the best part of the dive is the drive home :D

20 yards and unarmed :blackeye . Good photos though. Was that a young grizzley or a color phase black? Us Hawaiians can't tell the difference.

Brad

thats a young Grizzly, probably in the 2yr old range. Look at the face, the "hump", and the silver tips. I have a pic of a brown phase blackbear if you'd like one for comparason, but you'll have to PM me as I won't post that one. Freediving in a slamon stream, 60kms from the nearest town... unarmed? never

I left the cannon in the truck in this case, bears are WAY overrated. I brought a rifle on this trip as the 2km walk back to the truck, covered in salmon scales and reaking of fish can get rather exciting if there is something furry down wind...

below is the river, some of the Salmon I was diving with, and a very pissed off beaver.

haha - this was august sidiq, still not walking - so getting to all the posting I missed over the summer :D

8" of snow on the ground now.... probaly 1m or more where these photo's were taken.

yeah i wondered how you were condemed to crawling and all of a sudden you are treking through the forest and frolicking with fish and beavers (ohh that sounds so dirty)

mmmm... fresh salmon :p . Pretty dedicated to walk 2 km to jump in a river then 2 km back carrying dive gear, fish, and a rifle. What happens if a big bull elk steps out?

Mmmmm Elk is my favorite meat under the sun... I think I would have to bust out the head lamp because packing out dive gear and 4 quarters would mean a LONG day :p

And Mishu, I prolly saw 50 beavers over the summer... they are everywhere around here, real neat sound when they start tail slapping right next to you...
