Hi,

@ Ron Bakker:

I have already checked the Beuchat webpage. As you wrote, the main problem is the hole in the tab.

I already expected that kind of trouble with the omer shaft and bought a drill bit HSS 8% cobalt. But I don't know whether thats hard enough. I don't wanna waste hundred dollar on a Beuchat shaft into which I finally cannot get a hole. So have you ever tried to drill a hole in a shaft?

@ FHS:

With regard to the Rob Allen shafts, the tabs are nicely shaped, but totally un-suitable for drilling a hole that holds the shooting line.

So far all those having trouble with omer shafts are like fish washed upon to the beach :crutch

Tall fishtails + hole in one = pathos shafts.
I ve used one for quite some time and liked it. Google 'em.

Hi Dive buddy.
For the sake of the spearfishing community I tried drilling my beuchat spear with an ordinary drill bit. I used a 2mm bit, then filed it out, used a little oil on the bit to aid drilling. If I was to do it again I would aim to get the hole a little more forward by at least a mm.
