At the beginning of May i received my pair of new version Omer Ice fins to test. I received them with the instuctions from the Omer Kingpin "La devi Massacrare" - MASSACRE THEM :hmm
Well i have done so all summer and these are my findings.
When i opened the box i was struck by the strong smell of vanilla According to the omer boss dentex like vanilla rofl rofl rofl
The blade looked awesome. When i flexed it, it felt very soft but very springy.
Water test day 1:
Hoping the dentex attracting properties of vanilla were true rofl i slipped into the water. the first few kicks felt very strange and there was a bit of slippage (due to lack of fin rails) but i felt i was moving pretty fast for the effort i was putting into the finning.
Looking at your feet is the weirdest feeling. You are moving but you cannot see anything there.
The first few dives were to around 15m and although cautious about them snapping (old ice memories) i realised this was virtually impossible due to their soft nature.
I found myself finning at a higher cadence than usual with very little effort but i was surfacing just as fast as i was with my LATE BAT fins.
I have literally destroyed them all summer diving up to 27m with them and feel that as far as plastic fins go they are a great all rounder.
Their mimetism cannot be improved as you cannot see what is invisible, and contrary to some comments i have heard, they do not reflect the light as the other ice used to.
After a full summers spearing about 16 hours a week, the fins a looking a bit worse for wear but still as springy as they were on day one, and dont look as if they will snap for a while yet.
As far as them pushing as much as carbon blades, that is not true. I used the ice after using the Rekord 3 and thought i was not gonna make the surface, but thats just comparing the top carbon blade to a very good plastic blade.
