Omer Ice Fins Test!!!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.

By the way, the fins she's wearing in the movie are the old Tuna Ice, Pete Zuccarini the producer of the film wanted a pair at all cost and since there were none left and we couldn't come up with a pair here Stateside, as Omer had stopped making them 4 years ago, we had to talk our export manager, out of his personal pair he had stashed away and was saving as souvenirs....If he sees the film I bet he'll realize they looked better on her feet than they did on his

Realistically, December or January. They're completing the three year guinea pig process using guys like Shane. They're going to carry a 3 year warranty too which I think is unprecedented for freediving fins.

If you like the Bat 25's then you'll like the Ice. I currentkly use the Bat 25's for all my inshore diving because flexibility is a very important quality while doing lot's of surface work and intermediate to shallow water diving <60ft. It doesn't tire your ankles out and helps get the bell curve motion of the blade through the water going or in heavy current. It's drawback of course is >60ft where the added negativity requires a stiffer blade to help displace your weight and get you going towards the surface without working too hard. Since most freedivers and spearfisherman in the US realistically spear less than 60ft (why wouldn't we if the fish are shallower) I think they'll appeal to most. The exception may be someone over 200lbs who at 50ft still requires a stiffer blade to get the job done.

How do the Bat 25's compare to the millenium greens for stiffness? To soft for me
 
Cool, I have no problem with soft or hard fins - though soft is more practical for my diving - I currenly have Sporasub HDs. Anyway - I'm definitely down with grabbing a pair as soon as they are in front of me ..er... as it were

'Bout the same stiffness as the Millenium Green or Black but the Milleniums have more of a sluggish feel in the water hence the feel of polymer vs the more reactive thermoplastic they're using in the Ice. That's why the Bat 25's are more comparable to the feel of the Ice, fiberglass is also much snappier than polymer.

Yes sluggish, thats exactly it! Are these Ice blades going to be expensive? Or dont you know yet?

I'm told as we haven't even received pricing yet that they should be in the same range as the BAT fins. Definitely a substantaial increase in price over polymer fins. The increased cost of this clear material aside over polymer consider the lengthy time invested in the development of the project, tests, prototypes, computer and design, labor involved and man power. That is usually just like any other consumer product where the real costs lie - for a company recouping initial investments and expenses over time with volume and the risk involved of the product being a flop...

Is the low refractive index polymer of the ice fins a trade secret or not? The reason is that this material would be very useful in manufacturing fluid goggles. It is very hard to find any material with a refractive index less than 1.41.
 
Honestly i prefer the softest fin with the highest reactivity! I believe it was the old days where people used to talk the harder it is the deeper you go!
