Omer... mini laser knife

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I bought a mini laser, too and I have one question: Do you wear it at the forearm or at your upper arm. And how to you fix the knife with these very long bands? I tries to fix it in many ways, but anyway there is a lot of band flapping free:head. Has anybody some pictures about it?

Rbsub maybe you need too go to the gym your armsare too thin :)
only joking mate you would probably be better wearing it on your upper arm less likely to get caught up when looking for lobsters in holes etc.(this is where I wear my knife) the only problem then is it can only be grabbed by one hand if that hand is tangled in rope etc you could have a problem

Yeah mate, basically thats the key. Just double the band up if needs be. I have a bit of work to do now, but i will try to post some pictures soon.

Huw

Ok so here are the pictures. To be honest, i dont know if this is what your asking for, as it seems to be pretty damn simple, and i cant really see how you wouldnt have figured it out, but i may aswell post them just in case it is what your lookign for, and it may also give others browing an idea of how the knife fits.

Step 1:
this is how my knife looked when it arrived (see pic 1), or like this when the other way up (pic2).

Step 2:
Thread the strap (velcro side down through the free stap hole. (pic 3)

Step 3:
Pull the strap tight (pic 4)

Step 4:
Fold the strap backwards and then thread it through the plastic clip velcro side up (as seen in pic 5)

Step 5:
Pull the strap tight ( pic 1 - of this post)

Right, the straps should now be sorted, its just up to you to decide where you prefer the knife to sit. for eg:

Forearm:
pictures 2 and 3. You can see that i have the handle pointing to the ground, this is only a preference, of course if you prefer the knife could sit the other way round.

Upperarm:
picture 4, this option may be better if you find the straps too lengthy. Also remeber that a wesuit will add a hell of a lot more to your arm.

Tucking strap length:
If you find the strap too long, but would prefer not to just cut it with scissors, then just tuck the remainder underneath the knife itself (pic 5)

Like i said, its not exactly rocket science, but if it helps one person then it was worth it. And hey... i had nothing better to do! (note in the pictures you will notice that it seems to be a nice sunny day, and indeed it is, however the sea is brown:rcard )

Huw.

Believe me, there are a lot of other way to wrap it around without fitting well :head.
Shame on me.

But with the help of your pictures, it fits perfect now on the forearm and the upper arm.

BTW: Here in Germany it's raining and we have a very strong wind. I hope I can jump into the water tomorrow. 15 degrees tomorrow! (water will be 5 :()

I've had one of these for a couple of months. I replaced the band with a wide elastic band with velcro closures I found near one of my dive sites. Works much better. I wear mine on my upper arm - handle pointing down.

They do - I got mine there. It's just not up on the site yet.

Austin's'll work though.

Bought one a while ago and today for the first time I used the mini laser to dispatch fishes (three: a big mullet and two small breams). Good impressions, but also some doubts.
I still think it looks cool, the knife is very sharp and pointy, the fitting is comfortable, safe and quick to grab: perfect for the job. But..
but...I realized that I really can grab it with one hand only!
If I strap it to my left arm (as I did), I can pick the knife only with the right hand, and viceversa. But I wondered: what if I had to use the knife for emergency purpose (tangling et cetera), and my right hand was somehow enabled?
Still think it's a good knife and I'll continue to use it, but definitely with a second knife too on the belt or ankle strapped which I can pick with both hands. Hope this helps other users.

Good thinking. This is why I allways carry a small knife strapped to my tongue..:)

- seriously good point!

I was picturing two mini-lasers - one on each arm....combined with mirrored lenses I think you'd definitely have mastered the 'completely insane' look.

Wait a Minute, I thought that spearos just used knives as weights instead of lead? It makes sense to me... :martial:friday

A proper knife ...jus' like Colonel Jim [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowie_knife"]Bowie[/ame] intended.;)

Thought about the Omer mini laser myself & decided, for now, to stick with a normal size, flat, leg-mounted knife. I do see some advantage in having a dispatch tool closer at hand -- however, I will stick with the float-mounted stringer's spike (or the end of the spear) for that.

A flat-handled version of the classic WWII Sykes Fairburn dagger/Spider spearo dagger, with one edge serrated, might be ideal.:hmm

The homemade belt-mounted iki-spike described elsewhere is quite impressive. I have been thinking about sharpening up a screw driver (about 80p from focus) for that purpose but really don't want to carry anymore clutter (RA offer an evil-looking iki-spike with a steel tube sheath for belt mounting - no doubt suitable for dispatching large pelagic species!).

There y'u go now. The Yngwie Malmsteen of spearfishing*! *He famously wears a rolex on each wrist.

A bowie strapped to the leg would really finish "the look"...and provide greater safety (to be sure, to be sure, to be sure :)).

With the increasing popularity of fine, strong mono & Dyneema braid fishing lines, carrying a sharp knife (or cutters) remains a good idea.
