Pacific Northwest Spearfishing

I’m looking for more experienced spearos in the Pacific Northwest that I can learn from and possibly join for some adventures. (After the Coronavirus lockdowns are lifted.)

I live in central Idaho. Here we can only spear non-game fish; carp, suckers, and pikeminnow. I plan to do some of this locally when the state opens its travel restrictions.

I’m willing to drive out to the West coast occasionally and would love meeting new friends in the spearfishing community.

I went out to Hell’s Canyon on Saturday and speared this common carp while snorkeling. I also saw plenty of bass out there while I was snorkeling along the bank. The clarity along the bank was pretty good, but when I headed out to deeper water it was poorer, although I think I saw a catfish out there. The carp was 24 pounds! I nailed it in the last ten minutes I had for fishing. I’ll be going back and doing some more out there.

Yes it is. Unless you’re coming from Oregon you turn onto Highway 71 in Cambridge, Idaho.
