Papa Smurf in Thailand and wanting some help with info....

Fellow DB'ers...

For those that don't know I got married to Smurfette last week (the best day of my life) and am currently in Thailand for the next 2.5 weeks. I'm left it a little late but am wondering if there are any recommendations for Freediving Clubs/Schools in Koh Samui, Koh Pangnan or Koh Tao that people have...equally any recommendations for scuba (sorry!) schools would be good as I might do a short article about diving in the area.

Of the three places you mention, as far as I know the only one with freediving well established is Koh Tao, google apnea total. They are usually very busy so if your idea is a course it might be hard, but just for going along on a boat it could be easier.
If you are in Bangkok and fancy some pool training, contact the wonderful people at home (bkk.loma) or I can give you phone numbers.

There's also freedivers and schools on the other coast, Phuket & Lanta... in case your plans take you there too.

Thanks! Not looking for specific courses (been there done that...) just any freedivers or centres in this part of the world that I can pop in and say hello to. Spoke to the apnea total guys and might do a day trip to Koh Tao to say hello.

I went to Koh Tao in 1988 - superb diving but there was hardly any tourism at the time & not one single road across the island.
I saw some big shark & all the usual coral fish but i mostly remember the boat trip from Koh Pangnan as we were bombarded by flying fish landing on the boat!

Most dive sites on the east coast are around Koh Tao, the waters around Samui and Pha Ngan are really shallow...
