I decided to register for the supporter program but am stuck. I have a Paypal account but am opting to use CC. I can't use CC until I log into paypal. When I log I don't see an option to use a CC. What it tells me to do and what is available on the screen are not the same. I'll try again but am getting frustrated.

Forgot to add that initially I'm supposed to be able to choose my prefered payment method but there is no option for this. Only Paypal.

I had a similar problem with paypal on DB. Finally gave up.

Why don't you simply pay with the balance on your Paypal account? That works just fine. If you have no funds on the account, simply add some before paying.

I know. Just don't trust Paypal.

I do not quite understand. Are you afraid that they will steal from you the $9.95 instead of sending them to Deeper Blue? That sounds quite ridiculous, but even if they did it, you can always ask your bank for a charge-back - they cannot refuse as long as Paypal does not have your physical signature for the very transaction (I mean for the transfer from your CC or bank account to the Paypal account).

Another possibility - use payment with a credit card without logging into your Paypal account - you just need to use a different card and email address than you use for Paypal. Single-use temporary CC numbers most of banks provides for electronic banking is very well suited for this. I highly recommend it anyway also for assigning as the main Paypal card, or for any other online transaction - you can revoke the virtual cards with a single click with no cost and without calling your bank, whenever you suspect some abuse.

And if you do not have any other CC and you really do not trust Paypal, then I guess the best thing you could (and should) do, is canceling your Paypal account - you should be then able to use the CC directly.

Now you have to use a Creditcard, I don't have one. Any way to support DB without a creditcard? :)

I do not believe there is anyone in Netherlands who does not have a credit card. If really so, ask your father or a friend and give it them back in cash if necessary.

In fact, I don't know anyone who has a credit card.

You must be joking! Maybe you do not even know that you have it - that's the flat plastic thing approximately 6x9cm that you get when you create a bank account. In the last century, I've been living in Germany quite close to the dutch borders, been frequently there but never met anyone neither in Netherlands nor in Germany who wouldn't have a credit card. Although they are called "credit" cards, you can use also most of the "debit" or ATM cards - the word "credit" is used just for historical reasons - the functionality of most bank cards is identical, regardless if the funds are charged from a credit or directly from your account.

And I think you can create a PayPal account also without a credit card - common billing accounts should be sufficient - you can then move the funds there directly from the PayPal interface and make online payments.

Yes, I have the "flat plastic thing" but it's not the kind of credit card you can use for this kind of transactions. My card is not Visa, nor is it a Mastercard, it's a Maestro card, which you can't use on Paypal. A Creditcard is something completely different here from what we call a "PIN-pas".

In that case create a Paypal account without the CC card. Or get a free Credit Card - there are plenty of companies offering it. Some of them even pay you back some percentage of purchases made with the CC card.

There should be a mail in option :(
The cost of mailing, and processing of $9, and of the currency exchange, and then manually editing the DB database, would be likely several times higher than the paid amount. I don't get what's so wrong with Paypal. If you really want to pay, it is not that complicated.

there is a posibility to pay within a specific account? i meant cash!

You can pay through Paypal if you have any credit card (even just a virtual one) or a bank account. If you do not have any credit card at all, most banks offer virtual credit cards programs generating single-use CC numbers for online transactions. If yours does not, there are many providers available online - just enter the keywords virtual credit card into Google and you'll get hundreds of links. If, for some reason, you do not want to create a Paypal account, I bet that you can find a provider that accepts wire transferred or mailed-in cash (i.e. Western Union transfer) too for charging your virtual account.

the easyest method for me is to pay into an account
fot that I need an account number and the exact name of the beneficiar...
do you think that this is possible?:)

I just clicked on one of the first Google links for the virtual credit cards - the TrueCards.com - so yes, you can prepay the virtual card with a wire transfer or cash sent by Western Union. It's probably wiser and more economical to prepay more than just the $9 for DB - you can then generate one-time/one-use virtual credit card numbers for any online transaction you may need to pay for in the months/years to come.

Personally, to me it looks like anyone who is repeatedly posting here on DB with demands for other payment methods than the existing and very simple Paypal, apparently does not really want to pay and just searches excuses for himself why not doing it :) If you really want to support the creators of DB and help to cover the cost of the site maintenance, there are numerous ways to do it for everyone, regardless if you have a Paypal account or a credit card, or not.

i dont think that would be easier, certainly not cheaper. A bank transfer of 10 bucks (DB support programme) will likely come with a transation fee of 5 if not 10 extra greenbacks! With a Paypal account, it's free for the payer.

I have a paypal account and it worked great for online transations, be it ebay, paying subscriptions etc, though they just charged me a hefty 20 eur fee for receving money (first time)! that was a suprise as i read 3 times the small print and seemed that i will not be charged anything for over a certiain amount received... anyway, I'd paypal is to best payment option, or just get a virtual credit card number from your back to be used just once.
