i've been playing around with an improved apnea/static tables script. most recently a version aimed specifically for PDAs.

http://insomnia.geek.nz/apnea.tables.html
has been tested on a ghetto ipaq 3630 (win ce 3.0) and works rather sweetly.

if you're a PDA user - give this a whack and let me know how it works?
the UI should be fairly obvious.
if you want to specify custom configs - examine the source a little.
