Picasso 2009

The Picasso reels look good -- sturdy, simple design. Anybody tried them? Would they fit an Omer XXV I wonder? I like the simple, sturdy looking belt stringer system -- looks more robust if less sleak than Omer's Marco B. system. I had been thinking of drilling a hole in a lead weight just as they have done, but in the end opted to glue a small plastic tube onto the side of the weight as a sheath for the stringer pin. Not impressed by the spearo knives. Looks like they are trying to emulate design elements from Omer and Rob Allen - good idea, not sure they have quite achieved it yet though.

It is funny to see such a comment,
has i know, picasso use to supply the 1st rob allen handles
Beeing an Australian, you should find a lot of material that is based on Pisasso designs, even supplied by Picasso and mounted in Australia
And What about the new Sporasub Fins, ???, we saw that idea about 1 year before. Was developed on an European forum on a Post launched by Trygons ( Greek manufacter)
Speaking about Camu on Wet suits, i have seen a lot of european brans selling it before riffe, even Picasso.
more and More these days neopreme producer have standard patterns, so think about on massive production. I know around 5 to 6 brands with the same pattern. are all the wet suits the same? of course no, who cut it and glue it, that is the question
About the fins, i already had a picasso new fins in my hands and are completely diferent from omer.
More and more these days is dificult to create a product diference, maybe thats why in europe we are facing again a growing demand on woddies. Peple whant to have something diferent

Good catch. I was aware of that but it didn't strike me, fair point - Picasso was there first.

I'm wondering if all the bulk rubber muzzles are manufactured in China, after recent stories about a new railgun company supplying Rabitech.

Waiting for other companies to produce clear "Ice"-style fins.

Very true Picasso Basic handle was the handle on the orginal RA guns and very good handles at that no argument what i am saying is that much of the originallity that made the product so popular and hense also copied or parts used by companies such as RA is now gone.

no doubt that the product isnt identical it just looks remarkably similar. e.g the fibre fin and the PEGASO anyway my point i have made clear plenty of times and not something i am interested in arguing about.

as for the sporasub fin wasnt aware trygons had launched a bifin with velcor stapped shoes? but i know the basic idea has been added to the Lunocet mono recently (if thats what your talking about) but not to anyware like the developement (my understanding is the lunocet uses a set of bike locking mounts and bike shoes) which would be very comfortable.

pathos and cayman handles are still very different (pathos very nice to use).

again as for camo on suits yes picasso has been doing it for a long time and yes their original suits were very distinguishable but now they look pretty much the same as everyone elses thats the point i'm getting to is that they have basically just followed suit with all other brands, if thats a function of the "economic crises" then fair enough its just dissapointing.

yes Picasso product (handles is about it really) are used extensively by australian gun builders, mainly due to it being one of the biggest brands in australia in the 90's.

the torreli product sold in australia is almost all picasso (no surprise as the picasso agent is the manufacturer of the torelli line of products) the Picasso product is used not copied by these manufacturers there is a difference between using a companies parts and not hiding and copieing in my opinion. my intention was never to say that the product is of bad quality (which i doubt it would be) but that it is no longer "original"

anyway enough from me and MY opinion, its not my place or intention to force it on anyone else.

regards

DD

As for the camo suits I always liked the Camu pattern as it basically serves the primary purpose (read the true version that works) in simply breaking up your pattern, I was gonna order it when it came out but $400 seemed much, now they got it on sale for $175....new suit on the way.

I think as our economy becomes more "wordly" more and more wholesalers will buy from one or two manufacturers and just brand it, seems its been going this way for some time and will only increase as we globalize.

Regarding the Trygons fins contest design was launched on med fish, were was hasked to all the members to develop a new king of Fin. The responsed was quite big.
You can see at MED FISH, the final result was something that was like Sporaub fins, after some months sporasub came with the new fins
apart of that the true is that more and more all the material is becomimng the same or very equal, Is thats a results of globalization ? , maybe.
Is there a place for small builders ?, i hope yes, if the big ones don´t take them the ideas :)
