Hi,

Has anybody else had a problem with Mares, in particular, the quality of their products?
I bought a GT90 speargun just two weeks ago. Within a couple of days, the wishbone snapped in my hand. Yesterday, the safety catch fell off while I was in the water. I live in Greece, so despite the law, the shop will only send the gun back to Mares, not replace.
I have to say, the quality of the gun under use is quite poor. I know it was relatively cheap (€115), but it should last longer than two weeks. I suppose it is a case of buyer beware, but I wonder if others have had similatr problems.

Nope, I would suggest you write to mares in parallel. In my experience with spearfishing brands they stand by their products. It is a niche market and they can't afford to get a bad reputation.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Usually, I would have no problem contacting the manufacturer. But Mares are distinctly backward in coming forward with contact information. I spoke to the Athens-based distributer, but they pedalled the same nonsense about having to send the gun back to the factory for them to have a look at. I am unable to find details for Mares themselves ( I know they are owned by Head). This only adds to the frustration. I have to say, when I am in the market for another gun, it will definately not by Mares. The same for other equipment. Poor customer service winds me up, no end.
