Pulling in a fish after a poor / long shot.

yes it is a sort of fin on the side. i have no idea if I'm using it the way it was intended though. I don't like to use it too much and rarely do. Normally when my hands are too cold to load decently, or when using the 3. version open muzzle wrap. I should probably be sipping a glass of Cabernet in front of a raging fire by then anyways...

This thread has been great for me! Thanks to all involved. This weekend landed a fish (Mullet) that I hit in the side of the cheek, and which passed out of its mouth, leaving only 1 impact hole! Previously I would have been sure to have lost it. Must have been about the worse hit I have ever had. Let it have the line and finned after it until it droped so I could grab fish. Great advice to all to leave line and spear alone!

Well done Pav. I have hit one or two fish like that. Even a couple of bass shot through the mouth and out the gills leaving no external marks at all.

At the moment would just settle for being able to see the fish. We still have crap vis.

Dave

Shot placement is the key to landing fish.

Either way, once the fish is on the line, it will tend to head for the bottom, then wrap in the kelp.

Best bet is to go after them, because, once wrapped, tension on your end of the line makes no difference.
