Ray Fish

Hey guys

I went to khorfakkan in UAE for spear fishing and there i could see huge fish of ray type i am not sure which one... What do you advice me in future shall i shoot it (Its like 10 Kgs or more and i have 75cm Comanche)? I am not sure if its dangerous and what may happen... anyone advice if we can eat it as well ?

Salam my friend! Was it bottom dweller or swimmer like eagle ray or manta? Eagles & spotted rays are edible as well as bottom skates & sting rays. Just watch out for the barb. Remember to skin right away because they eliminate waste from the skin like sharks & congers. They also die hard. Good luck.

Look it up on the net and find out the local regs.. never shoot anything you dont know.

As may have poison spins meen teeth ect. Also may be udersise or protected or just out of season.

The wole idea of spearfishing is to b selective and knowing you quory.
