Just for kicks once in awhile I'll check out "registered user's" profiles...Especially when I see it's thier birthday or they have a freaky name/handle...Like today. It's Sphincter148's birthday...This guy NEVER has posted even once but has been a "registerd user" since 2006...I bet he has'nt logged on since the day he created the account. Seems their are more of "them" than there are ACTUAL "user's" of the site.

"Cleaning them up" would make things a little more tidy would'nt it? Not to mention get rid of some sphincter's!

Or is it a possibility that some have just been "lurking" that long?

It would probably tidy things up !
however i am a member of loads of different forums , motor diagnosis , gardening , cookery , fishing , DIY , and DB .
Some i log on to every day , some more monthly'ish , some even annually !
Some i have never posted on-because i havent sufficient info to do so, just sponge info from others in the hope that one day the tables will turn and i will have learnt enough to be able to post and answer questions .
I have had some accounts closed for not logging in or posting.
I think its a possibility that there are many 'lurking' and many completely inactive - its knowing the difference thats a problem possibly.
I think if it aint broken dont fix it . If it becomes a problem im pretty sure the great admin on DB will get it sorted:)

Having dormant or lurking users is not an issue. The number of registered users is actually dwarfed by the number of people who never register on the site and only read what is here. As has been suggested we see some users only become active once a year or sometimes not even for years! We currently operate a policy of never removing dormant accounts unless they become a problem.

Thanks...It all makes sense to me now! :duh

Nice to know that If I decided to disapear for a few years, that upon my return, EVERYTHING would be "just as I left it"! Sweeeeeet! :)
