Hello,
Which speargun is better and why?
I dive in the Mediterranean in shallow water 5-7 meters deep the visibility few meters. the target fish are grouper, mullet, sea bass, Saragus and more..
What rifle size is recommended for reef?
Thanks

It really comes down to which grip handle suits you best and whether you want line wraps on the side or underneath. Both guns are still made in Italy. Once you could take that for a given, but some brands sent their parts manufacture such as plastic mouldings to China/Taiwan and then lost control of their quality for a period. Around a reef 90 cm is a convenient size.

Hello,
Thanks, I'm in a dilemma between length 75 and length 85 of predathor plus. Is it worth adding almost double the price for the vuoto version?

Thanks

Not really, you can buy the vacuum muzzle separately at some time, but then the vacuum seal in the muzzle needs a better spear of spring stainless.

Hello,
what's the shooting range of the predathor plus 85? how much longer the range of the vuoto version ?

Thanks

Their range will be the same, the difference will be in how much pressure is in the gun and the effort to load it to achieve that result. As a rule of thumb longer pneumatic spearguns can shoot two line wraps, shorter guns can shoot a few more but this is because the wrap length is short compared to the length of the gun, guns of the same model being the same lengths if you neglect the length of their tank. Long guns can shoot three wraps if you push the pressure to the max and beyond, but are then almost impossible to load with one hand.

High pressure shooting risks cracking plastic pistons and the plastic anvil inside the shock absorber which is built into the muzzle.

You can make the range longer using thinner line (mono, Spectra/Dyneema, Climax) and using more hydrodynamic line slide.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for the reply. What is the shooting range of length 85? What pressure is recommended to use when it comes to the plus version?
Also, is it worth buying the Salvimar Predathor pressure gauge with a charging adapter?
If I understood correctly the plus version can reach the same range as the vuoto version but higher pressure is needed so it will be more difficult to load the shaft?

Thx

The "plus" just means the gun has a power regulator, the Vuoto model has one as standard. The in-line gauge is worth having if you want to set the pressure, but you don't really need it. What you can load against is what counts, especially while floating rather than standing on the bottom. Range with two line wraps is about 5 spear lengths, each half wrap being about a spear length, plus the spear itself.
